Regulatory changes, mergers, acquisitions, and similar situations force an organization to change rapidly. These changes tend to affect everyone in an organization.  Applying an engineering approach, we can see that every organization is a system, a system comprised of people, their relationships, the processes that unite (or divide) them, and more.

We often do not look at our organizations as systems, however.  We may look at them from the perspective from which we manage or in which we work; that view may miss seeing many components in the system and how they interact.  When forced change occurs, we may not realize how many components in our organizational system are affected by the change.
